Friendship Between Fathers And Daughters!!

Few of life's relationships compare to that of a father and daughter. From the first time she grasps his hand and says her first words, to the day she moves out on her own, the bond between them is ever evolving: dad goes from childhood hero, feared inspector of boyfriends, to the sage friend of adulthood. Daughters mature from perfect little angels into rebellious teens to accomplished women who are dad's pride and joy.

Chicken Soup for the Father and Daughter Soul celebrates this special relationship with stories about childhood, the trying years of adolescence, the poignancy of leaving home and even the years when daughters often become caretakers.

This is a beautiful book which would help understand and bond between the dads and their little girls even better. This could also be a wonderful gift from a daughter to a father on this Father’s Day. This book would surely serve to increase their communication, "saying" what may have gone unspoken over the years. Cheers to this special friendship!!

Ask your friend on a Prom Date!!

Make your mark! A quick and hopefully embarrassment-free way to ask someone out to Prom!

Steps

1. Get a plain white t-shirt. It can be any material you choose.
2. Write your name on it in permanent marker.
3. Write the names of about 30 other girls/boys (same sex as you) in washable marker, but make sure that the marker comes out in the wash.
4. Write a poem/note that says to wash the shirt to find out who asked him/her to prom, so that when he/she washes it only your name will be left.
5. Wrap it up and leave it on his/her doorstep, or mail it.

Tips

• Use differently colored markers.
• Make sure that the permanent marker you use doesn't come out in the wash by taking a rag and writing the word rag on it and then wash it. Hey, it helps out your household by making sure nobody uses the rag as anything else!
• Also, use a shirt that the person you're going to ask out might wear. Don't buy a size XXL if the person you're going to ask is a size M.

Warnings

• Make sure to tell him/her that he/she shouldn't wash the shirt with any other clothes. You don't want to ruin his/her wardrobe!

Things You'll Need

• Permanent marker
• Washable markers
• A list of other girls/guys (to also write on the shirt) in your school
• A shirt
• Packaging to wrap the shirt in

Gifts for Mother’s Day!!

One day in a year when we spare a thought for the special woman who took so many pains to provide us with everything we wished for - MOTHER. A smile on her face is is the ultimate reason we celebrate Mother's Day. And the best gift on this day that all our mothers look forward to is spending time with their children and having heart to heart talks. While I was thinking about the best gift to express my love, I came across a lovely simple ecard in one of the most popular ecard sites. I was touched. The ecard said it all.

Send this eCard !

So, gifts are just an alternate for the love everyone would like to express for their moms. If you are still confused and wanna buy some nice gifts for your mom here are some ideas.

1. Offer Mom a chance to explore a new passion. If she's spoken of an unexplored interest--such as art, music, gourmet cooking, singing or golf--sign her up for lessons. Contact local community centers, teachers or clubs for references. If she's always wanted to play the drums, rent a set and locate a teacher.

2. Buy a flat of plants or flowers for her garden and plant them where she chooses; or put in a vegetable garden. (See "How to Start a Vegetable Garden")

3. Make her sigh with a fabulous spa day or a massage certificate, or book her a professional beauty treatment.

4. Get her computer hooked up to the Internet, or buy her a cell phone with a family plan if she says, "You never call! You never write!"

5. Plant a container with a lush mini herb garden that she can snip at will while cooking.

6. Have some favorite family photographs matted and framed for her to enjoy.

7. Take her to a local gym for a sample session of yoga, tai chi or personal training sessions. Better yet, you go too.

8. Take her sewing machine in to get serviced.

9. Gather your clan and book a professional photographer to take a portrait of the whole family. Costs range widely, but expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $500 depending on the studio, and the number and size of prints you end up ordering. (See "How to Hire a Photographer")

10. Buy a gift certificate from a favorite store where she usually wouldn't indulge herself.

11. Take a walk on the wild side and buy her a pair of snowshoes (available at stores such as REI.com).

12. Whet the appetite of a voyaging mom with a Topo! GPS software program from NationalGeographic.com. The CD-ROM works with a GPS receiver to plan her next ultimate adventure.

Now go ahead and pick your gifts for dear moms.

Friendships of Mothers and Daughters!!

As the daughter grows up they become the closest of friends to their moms. From sharing pranks or gossips at college to helping each other with their chores and activities they become emotionally closer and draws strength from each other. It is a very special friendship. It is this bonding that helps the daughter sail smoothly from her girlhood days to her womanhood. This is a kind of friendship where they:

• are there for one another to care and listen
• accept one another for who they are
• support one another unconditionally
• encourage and guide one another
• are true friends for a life-time

Here is wonderful book on the mother and daughter bonding. This book is a collection of poems and reflections about the special bond that exists between a mother and daughter. Writing selections by noted authors Susan Polis Schutz, Natasha Josefowitz, and Madeleine L’Engle, together with a host of popular Blue Mountain Arts authors, take the reader on an emotion-filled journey through the laughter, the learning, the growing, and all the fun-filled moments that mothers and daughters share. It is a celebration of the strongest and most wonderful relationship of all… the love between a mother and daughter.

The love between a mother and daughter exists in a special place ...where "always" always lasts and "forever" never goes away. -- Laurel Atherton

This mother’s day celebrate this special bonding with your mothers and daughters.

Happy Raspberry Pop Over Day!!

Yum! Yum! It's Raspberry Popover Day! It’s time to pop in some berrylicious wishes to my dear friends. Hey, did ya guys know that raspberries belong to the Rose family? Can you
imagine sending a friend a bunch of raspberries instead of a dozen roses? That would actually be great!!

History of Raspberries

Red Raspberries have been cultivated in Europe for over 400 years. In North America, cultivated raspberries originated from two groups: red raspberries, native to Europe, and wild red ones native to North America. By 1867 over 40 different varieties were known.

Facts

• There are more than 200 species of raspberries in the world.
• Although very perishable, raspberries are now imported from as far away as Chile and New Zealand, thanks to air travel and climate-controlled packaging.
• Raspberries are a wonderful source of vitamin C, containing 40% of a person's daily needs.
• Eat only one cup of plump, juicy raspberries and you'll have one of your 5 A Day! Yeah!!!
• The raspberry is composed of many connecting drupelets (individual sections of fruit, each with its own seed) surrounding a central core.

How to Select & Store

When choosing raspberries, look for berries that are dry, plump, and firm. Good quality raspberries will not be moldy, soft or leaky, or break apart easily. Raspberries are delicate and perishable but will keep in the refrigerator for one to two days under ideal conditions. Make sure not to wash the raspberries until it's time to eat them.

Fun and Easy Ways to Eat Your "5 A Day"

Remember, one cup of raspberries count as one serving of your 5 A Day. Here’s a delicious recipe for you to try. Fruity Breakfast Parfait, it’s great for breakfast or even a snack. Also, for your next party or when friends come over, make Tropical Fruit Punch for a refreshing drink! Raspberries are fun to eat and are an awesome treat.

Breakfast: Try making Fruit "N" Juice Breakfast Shake; toss some into your favorite hot or cold cereal; top pancakes and waffles with raspberries; add some when making muffins and breakfast breads; make a parfait with non-fat yogurt, cereal and raspberries; or make a breakfast blender shake with non-fat milk and yogurt.

Snacks: Add raspberries to low-fat yogurt or on top of frozen yogurt; make fruit kabobs or a raspberry shake; eat fresh raspberries right out of your hand.

Lunch and dinner: Add raspberries to a fruit or vegetable salad; make a raspberry sauce to serve with chicken or fish dishes; use raspberries to accompany chicken and tuna salads.
Dessert: Use raspberries as a topping on angel food cake; make a raspberry sauce for fruit or sorbet desserts; spoon over low-fat ice cream or frozen yogurt.

I just can’t wait to try out some raspberry dessert tonight!! Hope you all have a great time and extend some berrylicious wishes to your friends and loved ones through these lovely cards.

Being there for a friend!!

Being oblivious is not a good thing. If you miss out on the fact something is wrong with a friend, you could be putting them in danger. So figure out how to "read" your friends.

Steps:

1. Know your friends. This is a must — you can't get anywhere without really knowing your loved ones! Make sure to watch them- learn how they stand, how they walk, when they're quiet and why. Don't stalk them, just know them.
2. Watch and listen. If you want to be able to help, listening is one of the most important skills to learn.
3. When someone acts different, pay attention. Don't just write it off as normal (unless your friend is a complete spazz). If they're quieter than normal, stand differently, space out when they used to be hyper, if different things annoy or depress them, something may be up.
4. Confront them. Just say, "Hey, I noticed you've seemed a little off today, you okay?" Nothing over the top — just something simple. That may be all it takes to let a friend know you care and are there for him or her.

Tips:

• For any of you who act, this is a good exercise to learn how people stand, walk, and react differently.

Warnings:

• Don't be obvious about watching your friends or you might get some funny looks.
• Keep in mind, your friend may just be tired... but if they react badly, that's another warning sign!
